It’s been 60 years since Aniara was published and this makes it a good time to grab that novel by the horns and start working on the big classic.

- Martinson is a wordsmith and Aniara is a very existential story. It has cosmic dimensions that deals with loneliness, and the people of Aniara experience an enormous longing - and seek comfort in each other, says Dan Henriksson who at the moment is working on a dramaturgy of the novel.

Aniara 2019 is a three year project and the goal is to have a premiere during spring 2019. The premier will be located in Philadelphia, USA.

- Aniara is actually an engagement from the choir The Crossing, that are based in Philadelphia. They make a lot of new and experimental music. Together with the conductor Donald Nally we figured out that Aniara would be the perfect story for a cooperation, says Henriksson.

He is now working on an adaptation that will be given to a composer. In the end the opus is going to be written for a choir, an orchestra and soloist. The production is going to be shown in both USA and Finland.
